Canti di Praga
The Canti di Praga Chamber Choir has it´s beginings in the first half of 90.´s . Focuses mainly on interpretation of choral pieces and songs written by famous composers from all over the world.
Most of members begun their choral singing with the world-known Prague Philharmonic Children´s Choir (Kühnův dětský sbor, KDS) under the lead of Professor Jiří Chvála, the established authority in the choral world.
Todays Canti has about 30 members and, under the lead of Mr.Chvala and since 2007 also in cooperation with choirmaster Jan Krejčík, keeps the tradition of a high quality choral singing in the Czech republic. Traditionally performs in Prague, Dobříš, Zbraslav and other czech cities as well as abroad (France music festivals, regular concerts in Germany). At regular occations performs big pieces of world-known masters: W.A.Mozart – Te Deum, Coronation Mess; A.Dvořák – Stabat Mater; Petr Eben – Prague Te Deum 1989 and other. As a curiosity and a proof of wide range the choir performed the Star Wars music at a famous Prague concert place – Žofín, together with Prague Film Orchestra, 2006.
Canti di Praga cooperates with Virtuosi di Praga, a world-known chamber choir (led by Mr.Oldřich Vlček) on various events and concerts – Music festival „Kutná hora“, traditional Christmas concerts (Czech Christmas Mess by Jakub Jan Ryba) held in Prague and other.
Also thanks to it´s history participates on anniversary concerts of the Prague Philharmonic Childrens Choir.
Women part of the choir came to a very interesting opportunity in 2008 – they were asked to participate on a new opera written by authors A.Březina and J.Nekvasil - „Zítra se bude“, about a very well known czech politician case Milada Horáková (in times of Communists era). The opera, staged in Kolowrat theatre, had very positive reviews and for us it was a great experience.
Canti di Praga established cooperation with the Berg Orchestra, Prague. During 2008-2009 season you can enjoy two of our projects – Berliner messe by Arvo Pärt and Symphony No.4 by Alfred Schnittke.
Canti di Praga celebrated it´s 15th Anniversary in June 2008.
